Maybe tourist 'visa' was the wrong expression to use, but I came over as a tourist and married as a tourist which we were told was allowed by the Registry office but i'm still waiting for my B permit, it's been a month and half so far.

I can't see why a Canadian couldn't get married on a tourist visa, how else would people marry abroad?

Will she stay in Switzerland after the marriage or go back to Canada while the B permit is being processed? It might work out easier if she found a job, got a work permit and then you got married but that all depends on your circumstances.
