| From what Dawiz wrote, the on-screen keyboard is quite usable so it would definitely be a little slimmer/lighter if it were simply ommited. I hope Motorola make a non-keyboard version (in time for my June 2010 upgrade ). I much prefer Motorola build quality and engineering to the ubiquitous HTC devices. | |

The phone feels heavier than the iPhone - but after a couple of days of usage, I actually prefer its weight. With the iPhone, I constantly thought I'd drop it. The Milestone somehow feels better to hold.
The physical keyboard is unnecessary, in my opinion. And you're right - I'm sure the phone would have been lighter without it. However, it doesn't make the phone uncomfortably thick. After a couple of days, you forget it even has a physical keyboard if you don't use it.
