You can also drive to the top of Mt Tendre, the highest point in the Swiss Jura at almost 1700 metres altitude. I would choose that over Dent de Vaulion - it is closer to Geneva and it is 200 metres higher, and the view is similar from both. Both peaks have a restaurant at the top, but I'm not sure when either of them are open at this time of year.
