Symbicort has a long acting beta 2 agonist (fomoterol) and Budesonide which is a corticoid. THese are used as preventive for Asthma but are useless in an Asthma crisis, so you always need a rapid acting B2 agonist such as salbutamol (in Ventolin or Ventide) in such occassions.
I use Spiriva once a day and Seretide (like Symbicort) twice a day for preventing but carry Ventolin in my bag.
