AT&T Wireless (Cingular) offer this at the above prices on a two year contract, so EU type phone subsidising not going on ... $499 gets you 4GB, $599 gets you 8GB.

Have not yet seen an off contract price, after considerable reserch, AT&T probably have negotiated that out for the duration of their exclusive & am pretty sure that any European players will do exactly the same ....
