I would recommend a trip to Hampton Court Palace. Check it out in advance because they have special days with tour guides all dressed up as Henry VIII etc. Plus they have an outdoor ice rink. You need to prebook for that. It's a beautiful place outside of the mayhem of central London. The icerink is open on boxing day (26th) when lots of other places aren't...
