since the last time I wrote, the Swiss and American government don't like each other that much (I wonder why?). so, everything was good to go until Credit Suisse told me they can no longer offer me a loan because I do not have a permanent place of residency.

Long story short, credit suisse no longer offers loans to American students because of the government, not because of the banks themselves.
