I considered it (all this research is the result of that), but I can't help thinking that it's a bit too women's logic-y.

"I got (insert unnecessary item) for 50% off! I saved all this money!" Umm, sorry honey, but you didn't need to spend that money anyway, so technically you lost the 50% you did pay.
