| Hello
I am due to give birth end of March. Does my basic insurance cover the baby if anything is wrong with the baby upon delivery or does the baby have to have its own medical insurance before it is born?
I have asked for medical insurance for my baby but my medical aid is taking so long and i was worried if i give birth tomorrow, would my baby be covered at least under my insurance if her insurance has not been formalised yet?
Thanks for advice.
Rgds

We are in the same situation and I called my insurance broker. Basically if you take the complimentary insurance BEFORE the birth, the child cannot be rejected and is not subject to the health insurance questionnaire.
If done AFTER the birth the child is treated as any other insurance applicant and all forms must be filled out and possible medical exams.
