Re: Internet issues / choices in Switzerland / ADSL vs cable

From what I read, currently it's:

Cable: looks more or less cheap, but can be slow by neighboors AND you must pay 26chf for TV line.

Adsl: old technology now, speed depends on distance to the phone terminal, relatively cheap for the "fast" internet.

Vdsl: better, newer, but depends on "copper line" quality, AND being already outdated technology (they won't install new Vdsl lines)

Adsl 2+, better, doesn't need to be close to terminal, etc... Expansive

FTHF: Fiber Optic! very fast, but only available in Zurich or limited test area... Expansive but relatively inexpansive compare to ADSL (as you don't need to pay phone line here...)

For Lausanne, it sucks, they dont have that good offer Orange Home, 69chf for 30MB internet... At best you get 39chf for 5mb +25chf line phone...

lame!
