| Help needed re dog with surgical "Elizabethan" collar
Our Rotti Kyra had to have a small wound in her neck sorted yesterday and she's wearing what I called a "bucket" round her head to stop her scratching the scar (just found out they are called "Elizabethan Surigical Collars").
She was put under yesterday afternoon and woke last night in a lot of distress. As the collar is pretty big she was walking into door frames and soon became a nervous wreck. We got her to sleep last night finally but this morning she was just sat on her sofa whimpering. She's calmer now and I've managed to get her out into the garden a couple of times but she still hasn't been to the loo for 24 hours now - she is drinking and eating a little - but I'm guessing as she can't sniff the ground (or is too scared to as the collar catches in the snow and dirt when she tries) to find a place to go.
I'm sure she'll go when she's really desperate but it's heart breaking to see her so sad and nervous. Any tips on making her comfortable? She's with the other dog (yes, we have another Rotti now - more anon!) and he can sense she needs leaving alone and is being good as gold.
