IMO Tim Burton movies do have a habit of disappearing up their own backsides; there is so much surreal that you kind of lose any resemblance of a plot or local color that may have been present in the book and you just leave the theater wondering what just happened to that childhood story that you loved. Somewhere in between all the pastel backdrops, zany interpretations and computer animated orgasms there was a real story just waiting to be told. But hey, he gets the big bucks to make movies that put butts on seats....
