I took out a life insurance policy here over 20 years ago. At the time it seemed poor in comparison to what was available in the UK, and yes certainly then there was no competition between insurers.

However, thanks to abysmal performance of the pound £terling the policy is now worth more than double what it would have been had it not been in CHFs...
