Dear All,

We hope to be moving to toronto this summer and are in the process of looking for reasonably priced moving companies. Was wondering if anyone knew of, perhaps, toronto based companies that have reciprocal moving companies here? or any other company that will not charge me my life savings?!?!?!

any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Mona in Zurich
Freight rates have dropped in the last while but it is still expensive and I suggest you take a good look at what you have and ask yourself how much of it is worth shipping when you have to pay for it yourself. None of your appliances or electronics are going to work unless they are 110v. North American bed sizes are not the same as European sizes, and neither is the bedding. Most houses and apartments in Toronto are equipped with closets for your clothes so you do not need wardrobes. The only exception to this would be a really old house.

So, when you take off all these items are you left with furniture that you really want to ship? Most everyone has things they want to take with them, books, sentimental items, etc. You may end up with a couple of skids of boxes and for this you could go with a consolidator.
