Re: Cold Remedies for Dogs

Hi all

I think my dog may have picked up a cold at the kennel last weekend.

She's a quiet dog so really seems fine but is sneezing an awful lot. She feels the cold alot so may have a caught a chill.

I don't think I need to worry about kennel cough cause she has been "vacinated" accordingly but will definately keep a close eye on her and take her to the vet.

If it was me, I would probably dose myself up with Vitamin C and maybe aspirin but I'm sure that remedy isn't ideal for her. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
Nats
Hey Nats,

Think its best to bring your dog to the vet to check whether its a bacterial or viral infection. Antibiotics will be needed for the former. In the meantime, I personally wouldnt give him any over the counter medication.

Keep her warm and dry and limit playtime outdoors in this weather.

Also, try running a hot bath to steam up the bathroom and let the dog breathe it in for about 5-10 minutes. That will loosen any congestion. I also second Mrs D's suggestion of chicken soup for hydration

Hope she feels better soon!
