3) Not unless the phone had a hardware keyboard, and the Milestone is currently the only high-end android device with one. The upgrade to 2.1 will finish things off nicely for the most part.
Why the keyboard requirement? I moved from a G1 (hardware keyboard) to a Nexus 1 (software keyboard) -- I was expecting to miss it, but in the end, not so much.
