| From the Plymouth-dakar Challenge webpage: http://www.plymouth-dakar.co.uk/
found under the Timbuktu challenge:
This Challenge is open to either Left-Hand or Right-Hand Drive vehicles. It is a condition of entry that All vehicles MUST be donated to the Rotary Club Control Committee in Mail. LHD vehicles are auctioned and the funds raised are distributed to local worthy causes. RHD vehicles are broken into spares. This is the only legitimate way to ensure that the best price is obtained and that the funds are distributed appropriately. Nasty things do happen to those who might flout this requirement, because it is illegal to sell your vehicle privately.
They did the initial Plymouth Dakar challenge back in 2003, and have added a few since, so they must have some experience.

..but Mali isn't exactly Gambia. We could also set it on fire and dump it in the ocean for all I care (to all environmentalists out there, you know I'm just joking)...or give it to a needy family. It's the experience or driving there that counts.
