Gambia is definitely good, but is there any appetite for...... Tehran?
It would be a lot more scenic than sub Saharan Africa, more souvenir visa stamps and the food along the way will be divine. Its also a lot safer.

3,800 km from CH to Van, Turkey (close to border with Iran) which equals 47 hours non-stop driving. And then another day or so to Tehran, and I would even consider bringing the car back because I plan to go carpet shopping
This does sound good.

I am probably going to be driving to Turkey early this summer. We'll see. It should cost about the same as flying and be alot more interesting and once I get there I won't need to rent a car.

Brian.
