| speaking as a landlord, it is my business to ask you if you have a pet and what kind. whether you have a hamster locked in a cage that does nothing but sleeping all day or a wild cat that will scratch my 16th century oak beams to sawdust makes a hell of a difference for me (as a landlord). | |

I do think historical buildings are not the avarage rented out places. I assume cats would not be a problem if the tenant covers up the beams, also the most owners are too fussy about tenants despite there is everything regulated in the contract and tenancy law. If you have to ask the tenant if he would drink a glass whisky or red wine sometimes, because of being afraid staining the 200 year old wooden floor you should not rent out the place. It could hapen they burn down the house because of a forgotten candlelight.
