That's good to know Papa Goose. I have a 16gb 3gs , bought in July last year, and in the last few days, it has gone from charging up to 100% 5 days agao, then suddenly the maximum charge overnight seemed to be 39%, and from there it just kept falling. This morning after an overnight charge, my phone is dead and will not turn on or recharge.
After signing a 24month contract with Orange, I expect my phone to work for 24 months, but should it be under warranty (as the OP suggests with Organe Optima)? I phoned Orange, and as I don't have there rip-off security plan, they said I'm not covered.
Am I a one-off or are other people experiencing this?
Perhaps I should also go to Apple and see if they want to replace it too?

| Jaro, take it back. I had this on my 4 month old iPhone 3g, it also used to freeze sometimes and turning it off and back on was the only thing that freed it up, and the battery had only fractionally more longevity than a may fly. I bought it from Mobilezone in Zug (who weren't interested in the faults) and they told me to go to the Apple store in Zurich. The genius guy was great and they swapped it no problem for a brand new 3g, but they wouldn't let me upgrade to a 3gs even if I paid a suppliment.
The new one doesn't freeze and the crack has not appeared yet, touch wood, but the battery life on this one is crap to. I've tried leaving it on charge overnight, and it's normally showing low battery by the time I get home in the evening. I've tried letting it die completely and just charging it until the battery bar is full, and it's still the same. Today I took it off charge (overnight) at 07:30, and it died on the train home from the motor show, and it took maybe 20 photos and was used on calls for maybe 20 mins and the internet for maybe 10's. Some folks seem to get away with charging there phone twice a week, I sometime's have to charge mine twice a day!
What do you iPhone guru's do to get reasonable life from the battery, or have I got another duff iPhone? | |
