| I've held myself back for quite some time, but somebody else brought this thread back to life, so I thought "what the hell". Why do you believe that taxes are higher in Aargau? Baden has high *communal* taxes. Is that what you are talking about? They're significant lower across the Limmat in Wettingen, for example. I had always thought that AG had lower cantonal taxes than ZH, but I've never lived in ZH. Maybe I was wrong. Back when the post was made I tried to search in German for more information, but couldn't find any. | |

The taxes in Zürich are generally lower than in Aargau but it depends very much on your circumstances. For example Aargau is more child friendly and thus families are taxed lower. The difference is the 14% kanton tax... This needs to be put in perspective though. We are talking of 14 as a number in an equation totaling circa 200 and then applying this to a tax rate of maybe 10% so it works out at maybe 2%. 2% of 100K is 2000 Francs. The cost of accommodation in Zurich might be 5000 Francs more for like for like properties...
If you are a company then Aargau is lower though irrespective of Gemeinde, in fact it is close on the heels of Zug and in front of ZH.
