Is the problem really about information, or that a person has to pay taxes as a citizen, regardless of residence? Or is it a problem with disenfranchisement with the system at work and a desire to withdraw from it?

Yes, I am opposed to filing income tax returns (as indicated on this thread and in others on the topic). It is a problem with all of the issues you've listed, really.
