Well, there's a bit of a difference between being against the cruel farming trade, and being a vegetarian... I don't think they are mutually exclusive. The big difference is in how humand their lfes and deaths are. Leather is a byproduct of the mealt industry and the animals death, it's not a sole reason for raising and killing the animal, unlike much of the fur trade.
