In the Geneva/Lausanne area, I have just solved this problem using sea shipping, for what I consider a cheap price (CHF 700):
I'm moving to Sydney next week, and have all my belongings packed in boxes ready to be shipped. Not much though, 1.5 cubic metres (maybe even less).
I've tried many different companies, removal and shipping ones, and I've been quoted up to CHF 1725. The problem is that all my stuff is already boxed, therefore a removal company doesn't really have much to do in terms of packing and many said they couldn't do business with me. Also because I don't want door to door service (I don't have a home there yet).
The price I pay includes everything from my house (Lausanne area) in Switzerland to Sydney harbour. Although I will have to pay additional fees on collection (of an unknown value), for the customs, the unloading, and I believe also pallet fumigation.
