The public transport really is amazing so it's almost always better to go with where you would really like to live rather than what might be 15 minutes closer to work. My only complaint actually is that the trams leave a minute early sometimes causing me to miss the connection.

| Thank you all for your input. I was thinking Zurich vs Zug because my wife grew up in Chicago and might get a little stir crazy in Zug (seems nice but small). Also, Lucerne could be an option.
I will be visiting Zurich in October and will spend some time walking around and getting a feel for the neighborhoods you have all graciously suggested. I will also test the commute and public transport. | |
