Re: What's the cheapest way to ship boxes from Switzerland to Australia?

Great to see a few useful methods showing up here now. eg What's the cheapest way to ship boxes from Switzerland to Australia?

There was a huge gap between the Swisspost 20kg boxes (Australian weight limit) and the full service shipping container options which usually seem to be quoted at CHF10k!

As we didn't have furniture worth shipping, we were stuck in the middle ground for freighting some bikes, equipment, clothing and personal effects. We needed something in the middle. We looked into airfreight and found something which seemed reasonable.

We used freight forwarding agent Horath AG Internationale Transporte in Glattbrugg. I boxed up our items and delivered them to their depot. We had 8 boxes totalling about 2m3 weighing 277kg (think that included the pallets). The cost using EmiratesCargo Zurich to Perth is CHF3.90/kg, plus the usual air transport surcharges and a fee from the company. It ended up economical in our eyes, compared to the option of selling/gifting the items here and re-purchasing in Australia. I'll add that the staff at Horath (small family firm, almost a boutique) are super helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
