It is time now to put up our house for sale:
Location: Untersee, on the hill with partial lake view.
House details: Detached house on 855+ m2 land, 5 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath, kitchne with informal dining area and living room + formal dining area, over 225m2 floor area, over 1000m3 volume. House built in 1982. 2 car garage, 2 car on the driveway, big windows lets lot of light into the whole house, tiles in kitchen and entrance, Wood floor in living room, with parket in rest of the house, modern kitchen with granite counter top, US style fridge with water/ice. Most hardware in house (heating, water softner, stove, boiler, dishwasher, etc.) are pretty good grade (at least) and less than 5 years old. Tall ceilings in the living area (the whole upper floor). Hobby room (without heating) converted to computer room/walk-in closet for the kids, plenty of room to hang 3-4 laundry loads to dry inside, etc. etc. Entire house wired for network connectivity via cables. Wireless also works, but wired is faster.
Garden has apple, fig, pears, berry trees vegetable garden and spice garden just outside the kitchen. Quite a few grape vines plus a triangular "pergola" covered with grape vines that is great to hang a hammock in the summer and read/swing/sleep/whatever. Roses in the front and hortensien in the rear side.
North facing. Sunny all day, with afternoon and evening sun in the living room, kitchen, balcony and the area just outside kitchen. Great for outside dining in the summer, with lake view.
House sits on a dead end street on established part of town. Remaining part of this area will not be developed. Only 4 neighbours in the street (one of them is a summer weekend visitor on their holiday home). Street ends into an apple orchard. Very nice and laid back neighbors. Kindergarden and primary school, local shops, public transport, etc. all about 5-7 min walk from the house. My kids learnt to ride bike, skate etc on the street in front of us (it is actually a privatstrasse). Every summer, all neighbiours get togather and have summer party on the street - one is an avid fisherman who smokes/bbq fish, I used to do the meat, other two did veggies/salad and dessert. Small hill in the back yard is gr8 for the kids to go sliding when it snows (with sleds and/or bigger trash bags
Steckborn is the bigger village between Schaffhausen and Krezlingen. The infrastructure is really good. It has its own recycling center (for glass, platic, metal cooking oil, electrical/computer equipment, old metal, etc. etc). The local library carries a section of english books also. There is a kinderzentrum in town for kids to go have lunch there, during school days. It has a very nice playground for kids of all ages. The secondary scchool is not too far away and is only 5-7 mins on a bicycle. There is a grocery store in the bahnhof (supported by the gemeinde) which is open till about 9.00 pm every day, 7 days a week. The store is a smaller Volg. This store is gr8 for those "oops I need the....." There is also a turkish store for late night kababs, pizzas, alcohol, cigarettes, snacks, etc. etc.
Drive to Zurich is about 35-45 mins. Post Auto to Frauenfeld. Direct train to Schaffhausen, Kreuzlingen, , St. Gallen, etc, etc. I normally drove 15 mins to Frauenfeld, parked in public parking across from the train station, paid CHF 8.00 for 24 hour parking and took the train to Zurich and other surrounding destinations. Lots of parking available and I never had to fight for a spot.
There is a lot of development going on in this part of kt. Thurgau. Large detached houses on lots of such size are not readily available much any more.
We are looking for 1.3M on this property, but are also negotiable. Purchaser can move in sometimes next summer (to be agreed and confirmed).
Did I mention the convenience of shopping in Germany (15 - 20 min drive) for pretty much everything

, specially during non-rush hours like the weekend? We can be done with all shopping in <1 hour)
We have enjoyed living here. It is now time for us to move on and hand it over to someone else.
The neighbors have requested that this property be sold to a family with children.
If you are interested, please PM.
We may also be open to renting the property.
Regards,
ps. I also have a 26' motor/sail boat for sale. This is one of the very few towns on the entire bodensee area that has proper "hafen" where I currently have a spot. In most areas, boats are on mooring balls. I got the spot after waiting 5 years. The yearly cost of this spot is < CHF 2000.00. The hafen is managed by the gemeinde with preference given to local residents (specially those who have a boat). If you are interested in the house, boat, or house+boat, let's talk?
