I've been here in Zurich for over a year and know how difficult it can be to find the right apartment. It's ridiculously early but I've started looking around for an apartment available towards the end of July beginning of August.

Ideally located close to Central Zurich or around the lake (I'll buy a vespa) :-)

You will probably find it harder when you start so early as most wont be advertised till 3 months before the august date (people normally have a 3 month notice to serve)
