Offering - temporary furnished accommodation in huge house in Unterengstringen

Hi,

We are going to the US on 12th Nov, back on 25th November and then off to Sydney on 12th Dec, back on 2nd Jan.

We have a 7.5 year old Labardor. If anyone is seeking temporary furnished accommodation from 12th Nov through to about 2nd Jan and is willing to look after our Lab, then the place is yours.

House is about 320M2, has office with internet, two big plasma tv's, nice queen bed and bathroom of your own. New sofa, place is too big actually......quite modern, electric everything!

Let me know. Respectible folk only as we are renting the house long term and want to keep in good with the neighbours.

Note, new lounge arriving on 8th Nov, so furnishings are still incoming and we want to get Sky set up - if anyone can do this while they are here - beautiful! I'll be ordering it next week - but we can have it installed ourselves if necessary of course!

Wow, Thats a very nice gesture, but you are probably better off finding a kennel/dogsitter for your dog rather than allow some stranger to live in your place.

I disagree. This forum is full of lovely people. There is enough time to find someone, get a feel for them, get references, whatever. I think it's much better for the dog to be at home and not in a kennel for two months. He'll think he was abandoned. How awful that would be for the dog.

EDIT: I'd offer to do it myself if I wasn't so busy and was going to be away for the holidays. I love dogs.

I think dog's prefer their natural and familiar environment. It's an exchange of favours. Stay in our nice house for free, and look after our very friendly and lovable dog. No brainer really. I'd check the person out beforehand but how dangerous could it be. Plus, the neighbours are watching!!

Agree. As chemgoddess said, you are more likely to find nice people in the forum and the OP has a better chance of finding someone to dogsit (dont know the real term, apologies) their dog rather than live in their house.

I see your point and in a perfect world I do agree with you... But you have to be a little bit careful on such things which is what my intention. Just to make your dog feel better, you dont find someone who robs your home with the keys u gave him... Oh btw, how are you going to check the person out? Is there a world where even FBI be pro-active to crimes than re-active to it?

Seriously, OZ1970 has made a perfectly acceptable decision about her dog and house while she is away, has posted an ad, and you are arguing with her?
It is not really a debatable topic

Hi OZ1970

Good Luck with your search for a house/dog sitter - you are definatelydoing the right thing for your animals.

In fact we are looking for the exact same thing in the Lausanne area from December 8th to Jan 2, so not quiet as long but we have 2 Jack Russels and I really don't want to put them in the kennel.

OZ1970, I've recently found a site which advertises house-sit. They do some reference checks etc. I haven't had any luck yet but our home is advertised. You may want to try the same thing.

I wrote them an email (in English) with a few details, sent a few photos and they posted our home.

Try them it may work out - http://homesitting.populus.ch/rub/1

Good Luck and anyone is looking to housesit in Lausanne, please PM me.

Cheers
Nats

Vishi with all due respect, I think you should more wisely pick the topics that you devote so much energy in responding to. I'm sure you are not a dog owner. In any event, this posting is for people who are interested in partaking in a mutally rewarding exchange, not for someone who is bored and wants to pass comments that are of little help to anyone. Why don't you join the FBI given you know so much about it. Really, your attitude is offensive and insinuating.

Re: Offering - temporary furnished accommodation in huge house in Unterengstringen

Hi NatsBrit,

This is exactly the situation a friend of mine organised when I was living in Lausanne. She is still there and she said it's fantastic. In fact, now that she has started work, she has a 'sitter' come in most days so keep her dog company. She is very happy with this setup. I'll check out the website. Thanks so much for that because I could not remember the name of the company she was using or whether there was a similar setup here in Zurich. Good luck with finding someone. If you need the contact details for my mate in Lausanne, just post me a private email. Ican put you into contact with her and she can then give you all the details you need and tell you about her experience.

Re: Offering - temporary furnished accommodation in huge house in Unterengstringen

Are you still looking for a dog sitter? My name is Tressa, and I am from the U.S. I am currently staying in Geneva. How far is where you live from Geneva by train? I am here visiting friends and family I have been looking for part-time work. But something like this could be great in the mean time, especially because I LOVE dogs. I have 2 back home that I miss so much! Anyhow, I'd be interested in hearing the details. And as someone mentioned above, I hope you don't have to kennel your sweet dog. It's always heartbreaking to do so. But it's also hard to trust just anyone into your home. I can assure you that I am very trustworthy, respectful, and dog loving. Feel free to email me privately at tresame24@yahoo.com.

Hope to hear from you.
