Dear all,

I'm relocating to zurich on the 6th of september, and currently looking to rent a small flat / apartment or a large room. My office is based in oerlikon, so i'm looking for a place in oerlikon or nearby. I'm very familiar with the transport system, so I don't mind if it means I will have to take a train ride in the morning. If someone has a place available, or know someone who has then please get in touch.

I'm 25, male and I dont smoke. I would prefer to live with a non smoker if sharing, but its not mandatory. Im currently sharing in London, and very much enjoy it. I love spending my spare time playing football, tennis and listening to music. My family are in north of italy, so I will probably try and go home at the weekend to catch milan play.

Hi Roz,

While I don't have a specific appt. recommendation for you, I'd say, in more general terms, finding a flat in Oerlikon should be easier than around central Zurich. Check on Homegate.ch (search criteria I entered are only 8050 ZH, which is Oerlikon). Since a short train commute to Oerlikon station isn't a problem, check out ZVV's S-train net for nearby stations/towns and homegate those again.

Hitting Milan over the weekend is easy from Zurich HB (I've had quite a few Ticinese colleagues who go home over the weekend): the Cisalpino.
Takes about 4.5 hrs to Milano Centrale, just plug your departure date/time into the SBB search page (Zurich main station is "Zurich HB").

I did find a place in oerlikon on another websire, only to find out it was taken this morning But the link you gave me seems to have places in Oerlikon, in fact the one near the station is perfect. My german is not very good, but it does seems to state its only available from October, so that could be a little problematic. thanks for your help

Problem with apartments is the decent ones go on the same day they are put up... and uni students flood the market soon (uni starts on 15 Sep). You will have to be aggressive and effiecient!!!

I just moved to Zurich with my husband and my baby boy, and for the time being I had to rent a furnished apartment. The apartment is located at Friesstrasse 8, very close by to the Oerlikon station, so close by that the noise is incredible (I do not know if your would have a problem with that). You can email them in English and find out if they have something available. It is really nice, they clean the apartment once a week and change the towels and bed sheets. It is really a good option if you can't find something soon. But be aware that it is expensive and again noisyyyyyyy.
