cost of a one bedroom apartment

Hi ,

I am a new member, and find this site very informative and interesting.

We are now living in South Africa, my Husband being Swiss,We are planning to move to the French part of Switzerland .Where does one suggest we look for an apartment? Considering going for job interviews, and we will not have a car immediately?

We would like to live for atleast three months in a furnished apartment or until either one of us gets a job.

Any suggestions please.!!!!

Re: cost of a one bedroom apartment

Biel / Bienne is a good place for what you need.

Equal distance between Zurich and Geneva and on a main train line.
20 minutes north of Bern
Next to the Jura Mountains which means next to France.
The town is the only official bi-lingual town in Switzerland.
Real multicultural society, I like it.

Not a particularly pretty town but it has ALL the facilities and accommodation is plentiful and cheap compared to other towns / cities. Some of the outskirts are nice areas, quieter and countryside and with good bus links to town too, i.e. Brugg, Neuchatel, Maggligen, Nidau.

Dont overlook it in your investigations.

If you want a furnished apartment in Lausanne then the Lausanne tourism office has a list, here is a link to the pdf document. I believe that many tourist offices have similar lists available. Good luck!

SBB said it takes much less time than that to Zürich, I checked after I gave the address yesterday out of curiosity. There are three trains per hour, one is a little under 1 hour and 10 minutes, another 1 hour and 15 minutes, and then the third via Bern (the other two being direct) that takes 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Re: cost of a one bedroom apartment

so then, I have got the flats to go with it LOL ,tho' a little bigger than one bedroom and of course more expensive.

Work in a busy place like Zurich or Basel and come home and relax in a rural part of Switzerland.Using public transport allows you to work in the train...so you can make to most of the beautiful region you'll live in when you are home.

cost of living for a month in switzerland

Hi guys!

Moi and and hubby are planning to visit Switzerland next month. Most probably we will be staying in Laussane.

Can anyone tell us approximately, how much would it cost us roughly to stay for a month including travelling around Swistzerland by rail, coach, excluding the rentals for an apartment.......

Thanks!

As a fellow moustache-sculpter and professional dwarf-thrower, I can say with some confidence that the career prospects are best in kanton Jura.
Hope this helps.
