| | | House hunting in Nyon/Gland/Rolle
Hi,
My name is Annette and I am moving to Switzerland in June/July this year. I just came back form a mini trip looking at housing and found one place in Gland that I really liked. But I find it difficult to know where to settle down.
If anyone could tell me a little bit about how it is to live in Gland please do. I have 2 children (Nelly 5, Luca, 3) and a baby due in May. Will be a fulltime mom for quite some time and need access to good walks, playgrounds, playgroups and activities for my older children, doctors, meeting places for moms with babies, international meeting groups as I am not speaking French yet... Any information would be helpful.
Also, if anyone knows a house/apartment for rent long term somewhere in Nyon/Gland/Rolle let me know. My husband is currently working in Gstaad and can view houses. This is what we are looking for:
3-4 bedrooms
garden or acces to public green areas
garage and parking for 2 cars
2500-3500 CHF/month
Long term contract
Close to shops, meeting places, parks, playgrounds...
Thanks a lot
Annette

You might also like to consider the effects of have an address that includes the word 'Gland'.
This kind thinking has prevented German-speakers living in the UK areas like Wimborne Dorset's 'Furze Hill'...

Hello,
It's probably too late, but I have an appartement for long-term rent 20 km from Gland near to Aubonne and Morges.
I'm leaving to France soon, so the appartement is available from 1st June already. It's very nice, big balcony, quiet flat in the vineyards, 3 1/2, fireplace, 2 bathrooms, view on lake/mountains, garage, open-kitchen. For 2200 CHF all charges included.

Hi Annette,
I will be moving to Gland on the 4th of August. My husband is Swiss and I am originally from India. We have 3 children 9,6 and a 2 week old! We have been living in Mumbai, India for the last 2 years and before that we lived in London.
I would love to meet some English speaking mums when i am there. how has your experience been as an English speaker in Gland?
Thanks
Shareen

Hi Neela,
From our experience we found it was very difficult to find a house in Nyon. There are not many available and the ones that there are can be very expensive. Same with Rolle. We found a nice house with a decent size garden in a town called Gland. Our kids go to the local school and seem very happy.
Please feel free to email me should you require any further info.
Regards

Continuing in the same vein of this thread (sort of), we are looking for a place in Gland and have a few potential choices. Does anyone live in the area around the "Collège" near the auto-route. I don't know anything about the area and would love to know the "subjective" feeling of the region and Gland as a whole.
On the subject of the name, I heard that companies set up in Gland have a hard time sending out email marketing campaigns because they get blocked by spam filters all the time. There is a way around it though.
One thing to remember is that in terms of significance Gland is growing but still considered very small compared to Nyon (which is very small compared to Geneva) but there is definite potential there.

I am selling a 3 bedroom apartment in Gland for CHF 739'000.- if anyone is interested. It is 110m2, has an uninterrupted view of the mountains (Mont Blanc too!), one underground parking place, a lock-up exterior garage, cave, and a private laundry room too! PM me

Hi All - Just a quick intro that my wife and I (with our 2.5yr old and 3 month old) will also be relocating to Canton Vaud in the next 60-90 days. We're very appreciative of the existing threads posted on this website, and look forward to more insights on house hunting, etc in Nyon/Gland/Rolle.
Thanks!

Thread Title = House hunting in Nyon/Gland/Rolle
a couple of flats offered and wanted
2 posts about the region in general
One post by a Mum who wants to meet other Mums and someone is looking for a doctor.
I think this Thread needs a complete overhaul.
On second thoughts, I'll close it before it wanders any further.
