Looking for apartment or room close to Uetlihof.

hi there,

I'm seeking accommodation close to Uetlihof in Zürich in time for April 2nd (when i start work). I will be in Zürich from 15-17 March so i will be available to meet landlords/agents/flatmates and see rooms/apartments.

If anyone knows of an apartment going free, or rooms becoming available i would be very grateful if you could let me know.

I was hoping to find an acceptable place, pay the deposit and rent and secure somewhere before i fly back to London... Is that a realistic expectation?

Thank you for you help.. have a pleasant weekend :-)

Regards

Robert.

Is that a reasonable expectation? In a word - no

Finding an apartment is tough and very competitive and almost always involves a lot of hard work and dedication. I'd suggest browsing some of the many ads in this section to give you an idea, and check out of some of the other threads about accommodation in the other sections. If I were you I'd try and secure some short term accommodation for when you arrive so that you'll have somewhere to stay while looking for an apartment (which may take some time).

Have CS not arranged some temporary accommodation for you?

All the recent permies and contractors that I know if have had this sorted out for them...

well am really sorry that is not a realistic expectation...my husband and i was seraching apartament, thanks God we found one...but is in thalwil...like 15 minutes from zurich...
If you found one cheap apartament on internet for example www.homegate.ch, well i wish you luck the day you will go to look the apartament more then 100 person will be there next to you...many time i was in that situation...the worst is when you really know you dont like the apartament at all...but you dont have other opcion...
so good luck ...

For once I agree with the other posters on this thread .

Assuming you're comng to work for Credit Suisse, I'm surprised they haven't arranged for any temporary accommodation for your family.

In my limited experience, your best chance is to try to get into a so-called managed appartement. These typically allow you to pay rent by the week or month and have a notice period of a couple of weeks.

I shouldn't worry too much about proximity to The Üetlihof as transit times with public transport across Zürich are quite short. And quite cheap. Plan your commute from here.
