Hiya - I will be moving to Basel sometime early to mid January (not yet fixed) so assume this apartment will have been let before I arrive, especially as I can't give a moving in date! However, I'm curious about one thing.

Am I right that your apartment is in Basel Land rather than Basel Stadt? That means taxes are cheaper, right?

no, it is not furnished. Nebenkosten are living costs ie water and heating.

Usually, it is the first month and last month's rent. Monthly rent is paid directly to the bank.

yes, taxes are cheaper and health insurance is also cheaper. Plus, in 20 minutes you can walk to downtown Basel along the Rhein. The appartment is right beside the Rhein and Birs but we want to rent it for January 1st. I am sure you will find something.
