Only 2 minutes walk to Bahnhof Oerlikon.
Very frequent trains to Zurich HB station (journey takes 6-7 min).
Very frequent trains to Zurich Airport (journey takes 5 min).
Close to tram routes 10,11,14. Lots of local buses.

Numerous shops in Oerlikon centre a few minutes walk away, including the indoor Neumarkt shopping centre, cobbled market square with twice weekly market, great fresh local produce, farmers market, fish, etc. Big COOP in the Center 11 Shopping Centre.
Apartment is situated just by Max Bill Platz - large Starbucks and a great bakery (Buchmann's), both open on Sundays.

Lots of English speaking ex-pats in the area. English speaking playgroups for parents and tots at the TEZET community centre, and a fantastic English speaking pre-school nearby too. Great local Swiss kindergarten too (Schule Im Birch).

Other great local facilities:
Nearby Hallenstadion for concerts, exhibitions, etc.
Large indoor swimming pool (Hallenbad Oerlikon).
Two easy-to-reach outdoor pools/ Freibads (Bad Allenmoos and the Seebach Freibad)
Ice skating rink (Oerlikon Eisbahn)

Good gyms with creches (Nordfit and the Airgate one)

Just wanted to add, we are breaking our contract on this apartment so the onus is on us to find new tenants ourselves. If you ring the number on Homegate on Monday, the managing agent will give you my phone number and tell you to contact me for a viewing and an application form. If the price/location is what you are after, would recommend a viewing this weekend - then you would be in a good position to apply directly early next week. Thanks.

not sure if this particular flat is for me - but can I ask, would the lease on this flat have to be for a minimum of 12 months?

Yes, I believe that would be the absolute minimum time - the managing company Kantag will be able to provide accurate details on this.
