Some of you may be interested in some statistics, so I've put up some realtime graphs. They are automatially every five minutes.

Users online

This shows the number of users who have been active in the last 15 minutes. Green - Total users, Blue - Members

Posts/threads in previous 24 hours

This shows the number of threads and posts in the last 24-hour period. If the daily graph goes down, there were less posts than at the same time yesterday, if the graph is going up, the post rate is higher than yesterday. Green - Posts, Blue - Threads


Total posts/threads

This shows the total number of threads and posts on the system. Green - Posts, Blue - Threads

For my detailed statistics I use awstats which is open source, and provides a similiar level of detail. However I don't make these available to the public. The stats above are generated every 5 minutes by MRTG, so those are the ones I make available to the public. The detailed stats (e.g. awstats) are run overnight during the early morning as they involve a lot of log file processing, so they can't be real time.

Ah. mrtg. You seen cacti? It uses "Son of MRTG" - rrdtool - for graphs and a MySQL DB at the back end to store the graph descriptions. The major downside is it works best with SNMP. Can be a bit tedious to set up the initial metrics.

BTW, are these true, or did you only calculate stats for end of August onwards?

Yep seem cacti, but to be honest I spent so much time tweaking all the stats for other applications on the server I'm keen to leave it the way it is

Yes, some of the stats I only did recently - the forum related ones. Had to write the bits and pieces myself (figuring out the SQL queries etc). The response time measurements are done with some simulated loads etc, and are also relatively new. Stuff like CPU load I have going back a lot longer.
