| (...) I think there should be a dedicated, full time mod solely for intro's and they are responsible for monitoring new members and their posts for a specific period. That would be more effective at preventing spam getting onto the forum, rather than the current firefighting of the stuff when it's on here and getting picked up by members. | |

Just to clarify this, EF is running a spam account detection software that renders the majority of the accounts harmless.
Systematically blocking or monitoring new account profiles has two disadvantages, it prevents users from posting instantly and it would be the most boring moderator job in existence.

| The weakness is real, that's why the spam gets through. The spam team is a sticking plaster, fix it and fix it properly... now, the spam has been a growing problem on here for a while. What's the problem with having enough people with the right tools in the right places, or are your empires more important! | |

You seem to think I don't take this seriosly enough and am delaying solutions for political reasons. Since I have become admin we have set up a good spam deputy team that would be able to cope with the spam even without software support. I don't remember you volunteering for deputy and don't know why I should give particular weight to your opinion.

They are doing well. Further improvements on the spam front are possible but require software changes that are a bit more time-consuming.
But like everybody else here I am busy with other stuff around this time of the year.
