| | | An Anchor for English Forum
I’ve avoided posting in here, but I think it is warranted. Some of you know me, many do not. I am Mark’s brother and we had both worked closely together on many projects, including this forum.
I don’t want to fuel speculation; I’m hoping to put some of the speculation to rest.
Firstly, there seems to be some misconception about ownership of this forum. I have always believed that primarily, a forum is its community and they are the true owners. As such, even though I own this domain (yes - me personally), I have been loathe to intervene in forum politics, though I have been angered from afar by some of it.
It would seem that a power vacuum has created some politics. As I would like the see the forum continue in the spirit of what Mark worked so hard to build, I may need to take a more direct role to ensure that it gets back on track.
I’ll be checking in here a bit more regularly and trying to take on a more active role. By “active role” I don’t mean in the front-end politics and discussions, I mean in the back-end steering and direction. I’d like to see this forum heading in a better direction for its community. Whatever happens, there will be repairs, restorations of old features and new ones on the way, so please focus on that with eagerness and anticipation.
Robert

Thank you for the post Robert. I fear that I may have been part of what angered you, and if so I am truly sorry. I am very happy that you have come to clarify one of the issues which has been on some peoples lips, and I believe you could be the anchor the forum needs right now.
Once again thank you for your input.
Regards,
Eire.

community". If I can help to get the forum back to the status it
was a year ago, let me know.

Hi Robert,
Good to hear from somebody who has been close true architect and will sort out lots of ongoing issues resulting from fears and doubts where the forum was going. Thanks for taking an effort to speak to the masses from faraway and taking an initiative. Best of luck with all your endevours.

Deborah, I don't really find this comment appropriate. Robert stated quite clearly he does not want to get invovled in the politics... please respect that.
Personally I think the forum is starting to regain its former glory. I hope you too and others can see and appreciate the hard work being done over the past few months to restore the EF.

So, we still don't have a sense of humour in here then? |

Please don't hijack this thread with yet another one of these "ef has lost humour and is not fun" or equivalent complaint.
I simply stated that I didn't think your comment on this thread was appropriate under the circumstances. Nothing about not having a sense of humour. However, if you feel EF does not share your sense of humour, which is an entirely personal and subjective thing, thats fair enough. I simply ask for a little bit of respect and know where and when to make your "jokes".
