Re: EF Partners with "The Local", Transfer of Ownership

I seem to remember the time Planthead was a mod and by the time he realised it and introduced himself, he wasn't one anymore...

EF will always be what EF makes itself. And that's down to the EFers.

I think the forums "work" as they are. Advertising has been added. There might be some feature-rich areas added.

But it's just a virtual place on the Internerd. If it diverts from the core values associated with your reasons for coming then you won't come. And they know that.

So in the end, everything and nothing will change.

That's what Ian told me last night.

Re: EF Partners with "The Local", Transfer of Ownership

Yes, Ian is the IT chief at The Local.

In very simplistic terms...
- I manage the site at the vBulletin level
- Ian manages the site at the Unix level

Ian's been helping maintain EF quietly in the background for a year now.

The other day he happened to need an admin account for a mundane bit of technical housekeeping, so we created it.

Sorry, I didn't realise anyone would notice or care.

Nothing's changed from the user perspective, or about to change.

Thanks for the Information.

Some of us have this new USA software, so we notice what goes on.

Thanks for the official clarification. Not much escapes our notice here

Not so sure about now, but in Ye Good Olde Days it was considered very impolite in Switzerland to enter a room and not greet folk. Perhaps a bit of Swissness has rubbed off on us all.

Or maybe with all the 'not-knowing' about the ownership or future of EF for months on end has just made some of us a bit wary of changes we are not informed of. An Administrator Titel in the list of Newbies just sticks out like a sore thumb.

Welcome, Ian, to the Forum.
Well, I'd hate to be considered impolite, so hello everyone. And sorry to prompt so much speculation. I'm afraid I won't be posting very much though because I've only been to Switzerland half a dozen times and I've never stayed overnight - you'd think I'd learn which way to go out of Mulhouse airport after the first couple of times!

Cheers,
Ian
