I am genuinely sorry to see Litespeed go. He was the last of the "original" mods. Its sad to see that the entire administration/moderation team that was so involved in getting the forum up and going in the first place is now gone. Its a sad day for the EF.

Agreed - I'm also sad to see old, respected hands moving on.

On the other hand we now have a new, motivated team of committed staff who are pushing EF into the future. After a rocky few months, I hope we can look forward to some stability and that the new team get their chance to shape the forum into the "place" desired by themselves and the users.

Sure it's sad to see old faces go but we also have some great new faces here and I think they are doing a splendid job. So I for one would like to say, it's not a sad day for EF, rather it's just a new day for EF.

I regret litespeed's decision like any other retirement from the staff. I just think it's nice that several of the ex-mods still are regulars here. Also I prefer a honest goodbye to a silent walk away to the shadows, whatwould that be good for?

By the way, if you look at gbn's UID, there's still a veteran on board.

The current team is hard at work to bring EF forward. I feel Eire's reaction touches again the fact that the community often hasn't been in the loop where things are progressing for a long time. I don't intend to revive this discussion without offering new information and today I can't. I can only ask you to put this a bit in perspective because a year ago, I wasn't even mod myself. Soon we'll be ready to give you a much better idea of the things to come.

Nathu are you implying some ex 'dedicated' mods didn't say an honest goodbye? from my recollection of the events i am surprised one of them even bothered to explain his position - high hight and shat on comes to mind

Sorry, Nicky, I am absolutely not stating this and if my above answer can be read in this way I sincerely apologise. What I wanted to say is that we could've of course let litespeed on the list and spare Eire and other users the news even though he stops moderating and it wouldn't be a benefit at all.

I have been personally in touch with litespeed and every other moderator who has retired before him since I am staff member and their retirings have happened in mutual respect and friendship without exception.

Just for the record, as the question has been raised over the odd pint, I did not resign.

I won't go into details and, anyway, I probably would have resigned sooner or later as the brewery took up more and more of my time.

mjjnl resigns as an admin. Thank you for your contribution in a time when the forum needed it.

Also, I resign as an admin and go back to what I did when I first joined the team: moderating the Help & Tips and Living in Switzerland sections. I have a few chaotic months ahead of me and I'm relieved that EF will get the care it deserves now.
