Re: Policy: Deletions / Edits of messages

Thanks Ed Bob. Well I, for one, am pleased to be able to keep my editing rights - if only because I can add new Info to old (sticky) posts of mine with links etc. in them.

Can we ask why these members seem to get this unlimited ability? What is the logic, are they considered more responsible than other members?

The use of the reputation points is not so much about the quality of the posts being made but a inner clicky group of posters that always seem to feel that the support each other irrespective of the post being offered.
I understand what you mean, but I'm not so sure, looking at the list of those 68 posters, that your comment applies to many of them.

I presume the idea behind the ruling is that those who have been around long enough and written enough posts to have accumulated that many points, also realise how unfair it is either to edit their previous posts to affect the logic of later posts or to delete posts after delivering their barbs - making the whole Thread pointless. There may be the odd black sheep among us, but Mods have sharp eyes.

- Newcomers can't edit any of their posts ever. The definition of a newcomer is one who joined less than 7 days ago and has made fewer than 5 posts. This is the same as the ruling about making commercial posts.
Would it be possible to amend the and to or? That would also pick up the members who lurk and just make an occasional post.
