Be positive

Well, I must say, the past two months have felt like a hurricane with everything being a bit of a blur. When the day comes in January where I have to board the plane and say my good-byes, I am sure that I'll need a huge box of tissues. But, this said, I am excited. South Africa is all I know, I've never had the fortune of travelling, and I have no idea what is going to happen or what CH will be like. I choose to see it as my chance to emerge from my cocoon and see all that the world has to offer me. Don't get me wrong, I have no rose-tinted glasses on, and I am not entering into this with the assumption that everything is going to be easy or fantastic. I am well aware that I may as well be entering a different universe with the diversity between what I am used to and the new culture that I am determined to integrate my family into. But I beleive that no matter how alienated I may feel at first, no matter how many disastrous attempts I have to endure trying to communicate, and no matter how much the way of life or different culture etc may shock my system, I am not going to give up. If one does not try something new with a positive attitude, then if it does not go as well as hoped, we will never be able to get up and try again. So I am thankful for all the joys and pleasures that my life in South Africa has given me, and I am looking forward to my wonderful life an the new friends that I will make once the "dust settles" and I begin my new chapter in CH. Anyone who chooses to make such a change in their lives need to be prepared to have everything turned upside down before they can learn to view the world from another perspective and enjoy it.
