I am thinking about starting up a small home based business converting 35mm slides into digital images. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any similar services out there (in canton Vaud) and whether there is a demand for this kind of thing here in Switzerland (for example were 35mm slides as common here as they were in the U.K??)

Would anyone be interested in this kind of service?

I was thinking of offering two services using the specialised equipment I currently have. A basic service which would convert slides as they are "warts and all" and an enhanced service which would use specialist software to remove any dust and small scratches from the digital version of the image.

yup. Filmfix is doing that.

Prices range between 0.5 CHF and 2 CHF per slide depending on manual work.
Issues are confidentiality, make sure the stuff does not get lost at Post or at your home etc....

I have had a quick look at their website and it looks like the price per slide is fairly low but that they charge a 30chf set up and handling charge with every order.....
