Does this exist in Switzerland. Like the ones in New York that bike like madman to deliver packages etc etc.

You've never seen them in Geneva? Maybe open your eyes  There's a lot of them around. They mostly seem to ride fixed too...

I see them regularly at train stations (Geneva, Bern, Zurich) to pick or deliver packets.

yes they are around zurich, one dumbass one yesterday managed to park his bike leaning against the main doors into work, god knows how he managed it and was still able to get inside the building

p.s.. re. Geneva... I was done along the quay side by the bain des paquis a couple of weeks ago and I've noticed there are a couple of bicycle "rick-shaws" down there now as well plying the tourist trade.

That was what the lady at the bike store told me when I asked why put front and back brakes on a fixie when obviously you brake with the...well only in Switzerland. No arguments there. |

I can see the argument for front brakes. | | | | | We used to freewheel down the hill with feet on crossbar to avoid the pedals. But you can`t get your feet back on them pedals at speed. So`s you needs yer brakes.
