Hello again, I m posting this topic again cause I dont know if the previous one was specific enough.

I am EU citizen guitar teacher and I arrived in Switzerland with an L permit this last June.
The permit expires in October the 10th.

Can I become self employed by renewing it?

You cannot be self employed on an L permit.

Registering as self employed will automatically get you a B permit. As well as the local town hall, you will need to register as self employed with the tax and social secuity bodies.

EU self employed B permits are restricted to 6 months after which you have to prove economic viability before being provided with a 5 year permit. This has been challenged as it goes against the bilateral agreements and now some Kantons do not impose this and you get a 5 year B straight away.

So basically I go to the local authorities and register as self employed and get the B permit.

Well, that seems easy.

I have an L permit and just went to register as self employed at the AHV office..... the people there and those at Immigration all said that you can register as self employed with an L permit....no-one said anything to me about a B permit......Is this an automatic thing do you know???
