I used to work as a computer engineer (fancy title for someone who repairs PC's), but it was quite a long time ago so I'm a bit rusty... but now I'm getting a few requests from people to set up their internet, fix pc problems etc...

So I'm going to set up a part time PC repair business.

So my questions to anyone doing this type of thing already...

what software do you use for:

hardware diagnostics?
virus and malware checking/removal?

Anything else (software and/or tools worth investing in)?

Where to order parts on line for good prices and quick delivery to France or Switzerland?

Well, I have friends in France, they import everything from Switzerland as parts are too expensive there. But watch out shipping is a nightmare, time and cost wise.

To get an overview on an unknown computer try SIW (just google it), all the rest at your own taste.

Since you're located in haute savoie, the nearest shop for you is prodimex or 1000ordi they are both reliable.

For sw, it's a long list and it's based one's preference.
