Disaster recovery / Business continuity providers

I am currently looking at business continuity solutions within Switzerland, specifically the use of a recovery centre where computer systems may be maintained as per a live environment and desk space provided in a disaster situation.

Does anyone know of companies in the Zurich region that offer disaster recovery / system availability services such as Sunguard do in the US and UK?

Are you looking at offsite computing facilities or do you need a "hot spare" office too?

I can PM you a name I am familiar with...

Re: Disaster recovery / Business continuity providers

Pat - thanks I will look into them.

Lob - thanks, that is the company I am using at the moment.

I'm looking for a company that can offer me a secured data center, e.g. a restricted access server room or cage within a shared server room facility. As well as a number of hotspare desks which could either be dedicated or shared with a limited number of companies and available within a short period after activation of a DR plan.

Re: Disaster recovery / Business continuity providers

Rather unhelpfully I've not seen a company that runs that service a la, Sungard, IBM or Adam Continuity in the UK.
If you do find one I would also be super interested to know about them as well.

There is a facility IIRC here which is embedded in the side of a mountain.

Does anyone know the name?

Re: Disaster recovery / Business continuity providers

are you a single office company? We have a BCP which involves re-using our other offices. Also consider Citrix-type solutions and keep people at home?

Inspirion offers data center services but I don't know if they offer what you're looking for. They are quite open-minded though so it doesn't hurt to ask. www.inspirion.ch

One of them is SIAG in Gstaad. They provide many of these services, but not sure if they do all of them. They have a few sister companies that provide solutions. www.siag.ch

They are called SwissVault

I have visited the facility, security is tighter than a bank vault.
It is an old military bunker buried deep inside the Swiss Alps.

Very impressive!

Swissvault is the service, SIAG is the company. I have worked with them in the past (consulting), don't be put off by the crappy website, these guys are technically very good, they do a lot with financials in Zürich.

I can tell you the generators were running today but I can also tell you that they have redundant electric suppliers and expect human error to be the cause. Either way, it's squeeky-bum time

One wonders how many gennies - we have 3 x 1000W each to keep us ticking over. We can loose two and still function....
