Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

you can have a paypal account in switzerland.

the best is really to tie it to a swiss bank account rather than a credit card.

you can then have a verified account . select switzerland when registering.

if you leave in switzerland, just go to swiss post, open a savings or bank account there. quick , fast and it comes with a credit card as well.
on top of that, this solution keeps you main bank account separated from the paypal account if they were trying to get some fees back or if you had a chargeback.

it is less risky if you do not leave too much funds in the paypal account. transfer funds regularly to you bank account.

if there is an issue with a payment , you can deal faster with a swiss bank rather than with a us company located thousand miles away. and a swiss bank will not let a foreign company just draw in your account without reason.

however paypal is very useful if you work often with ebay . the 2 are well integrated (same company) and it is easier for european bidders to pay with paypal rather than doing a bank transfer for 3 euros....

paypal is of course not perfect but if you wor a lot online and particularly with the US, it is definitely easier to pay for a service.

of course, it does not fit every business.

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

my question is ridiculously simple.

i have a paypal account, with 2euros.. i need to "Top Up" my account and want to add funds to it.

i dont want to certify any bank account with it, since i dont use paypal enough and i dont want to give them rights to know more than what they need.

paypal says i can pay to their account of: Bank of America in geneve, i have their account and clearing and most importantly my unique ID so they can put the money i wire to my paypal account.

but when i enter their account number via the postfinance website it tells me is not a valid account number, remittances don't offer clearing number entry boxes in their forms and the Bank of America account and it is definetively not a payment abroad...so the other possible ways to make the payment dont work.

so, to the question:

how do you top up your paypal accounts via yellownet?

i might end up going to the post office to use their paper forms

thanks,
/f

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

I have been using paypal for years. You can transfer funds to your Swiss bank A/C, no probs with that.

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

ei thanks for replying..

phps i was not clear, what i mean, is how to i pay to any paypal account and get that as paypal funds?

i tried their info but my bank (poste) rejects the account number since is not valid. I went to the bank and they also said it is not a valid account, hence is a bit dumb from them to offer bad information, here is a post on the issue:

http://bruno.kerouanton.net/blog/200...pal-en-suisse/

so yes, i wont try that method and begin to not be so interested in using paypal anyways.

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

I have a UK and a Swiss Paypal account. I just opened the Swiss one, and transfered money to it.
I had the exact same problem that I could not send money over my UBS Ebanking account. If I copied to the exact fields as on the statement, and did not press "lookup" or verify or what that option was, then the payment went through anyway. I am at work now and do not have my contract number here, so i can not look what the troublesome button was called.

but "copy, paste, pay" works. "copy, paste, doublecheck, pay" casues an error.

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

I have exactly the same problem, just bought something on ebay and wanted to pay for it. Ebay account has balance of 90 USD so I thought nooooooooo problem. Hence same problem of top up account etc and it wont do it. I added a credit card but get the statement once a month. Needless to say the seller is not going to be too pleased with me as I wait a month for the '4 number code' they ask for!!!!!!!!!! wont do this again. Shame as this 90usd seems blocked and I have had it in there 5 years. All I wanted to do was buy a dvd

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

I have a verified pay pal account. It's connected to my UBS credit card which in turn is connected to my UBS bank account. I use it only for is buying, is there any reason for me to be worried?

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

hi, I've got a problem withdrawing my money from my paypal account to my raiffeisen bank account.
During the last months I tried 3 times but the money always came back to my paypal account.
I have to say that last year ( 2008 ) I made a couple of withdrawls always on the same raiffeisen bank account and had no problem.... now it doesn't work anymore !!
Paypal help support has no clue about what the problem is and they can't help me !!

I'd really like to close my paypal account because of this problem but I don't know waht to do 'cause to close it I have first to withdraw my money somewhere.

has anybody had the same problem and got the solution to help me ?
many thanks
Dami

Re: Can you have a Paypal account in Switzerland?

Paypal has a limit how much money you can withdraw, but this limit can be raised.
I ran into that problem when my incompetent bank (Royal Bank of Scotland) needed 3 MONTHS to send me my IBAN number, and so i had to use Paypal for transfering money to pay my mortgage. If i remember correctly, they let you withdraw 400 pounds per month and 750 per year. If you need to withdraw more from your paypal account, you must go through some verification process with them.
I only know this limit applies to UK, but also expect that there is a limit for Switzerland.

Hello all,

I am new to these boards, thnaks for having me. I am interested in setting up a business in Switzerland. The main aspect of my business will be taking electronic payments, preferably through Paypal.

Is it possible to have a Paypal account in Switzerland, and,if so, are there any withdrawal or receiving limits even on fully verified accounts? I ask this as I originally had planned on another country but they had a withdrawal limit of 400 Euros.

Thanks for your help.
Most probably yes if you have a swiss credit card. I have helped an organization accept paypal payments in France, and I guess Switzerland should not be any different.
