Any recommendation for a lawyer/notary to start a GmbH in Kanton Schwyz?

Hi!

I'll start up a company in Schwyz in the coming months. I read all the relevant threads and:
- got the 20k CHF for the GmbH
- understand the fees will be in the 4k ballpark...
- pretty sure I fulfill all other requirements
- understand that cantonal rules vary, so if you had a great guy in Vaud might he not be the right one for Schwyz...

I know that quite a number of EFers are entrepreneurs - so anyone made some good or bad experiences in central Switzerland?

Thanks!

Treverus, sorry to disappoint you, but the notaries are all in some association for notaries and charge pretty much the same, so try and find a pretty one, it makes it easier on the eye when they drone on reading out the articles !

Good luck with your new company and pay absolutely nothing unless you are sure you ordered/agreed to it

Most important, remember imagination is a very good substitute for experience !

Notaries have no imagination, that's why they are notaries !

Seriously though, they are all about the same price as their is an association which fixes the rates, it really is business 100% Swiss style....

You can however have a notary from a different canton, not that it makes much difference, but this is workable. My notary practices from canton A and i live and my company is based in canton B

Have you looked at post finance? They do have (or had) some offers for start ups.

I am technically not back in Switzerland yet... but it seems every larger company from Swisscom to banks have some sort of bundle deals available. But I guess I first need to get the company registered.

You still need a notary and they may provide one in the package but it will be cheaper if you go direct as notaries all charge the same irrespective who the client is. (good case study for anybody interested in cartels....)

You're best bet is to find one in the town where you live/&have company based and get to know them, buy lunch etc as they do know a shed load of info on companies and associated things.

You'll end up saving far more than you spend if you know your notary

You can actually go to the notary of your choice anywhere in Switzerland, regardless of where you want to register the company (of course it may make sense to use a notary in the same canton since they will know exactly how the commercial registry wants the forms filled out... but it is not required).

There are plenty of online offers for founding GmbH (search terms: "online gmbh gründen") so that might be an option, however, if you have a special business plan or are planning to take on other shareholders, etc. it might make sense to talk them through with a notary.

I know several notaries in Basel, Berne, Lugano but for most of my work I use the public notaries in Zurich.

Re: Any recommendation for a lawyer/notary to start a GmbH in Kanton Schwyz?

Ok, so I wrote a notary... and did not hear a word back.

I know I need to talk to a pro, but I apparently need to find out who'd be the right one to talk to:

- I'll arrive in CH beginning of August
- will spend the first month in a serviced apartment in ZH
- will live in SZ permanently afterwards

Obviously don't want to go through too much hassle for the Kanton change after only a few weeks. Looks like the notary in SZ does not feel like talking to me till I am living and registered there (?)... any tips how to set up a company and being able to work from August in the most hasslefree way possible?

The notaries in Canton Zurich are extreemly helpful. They are employed by the canton which is not the case in some other cantons e.g.

We have set up several companies on our own, just using the info of gruenden.ch. Even one in Canton Schwyz. I dont remember though how we did that one exacty unfortunately... I think we got the statutes notarised in Zurich but not 100% sure.
