I am looking to establish a Gmbh in Geneva or Zurich. I am the owner of an LLC in the U.S. and I have an opportunity to expand to serve a major client in Switzerland.

Gmbh is the entity that is appropriate for my firm, however as I have been doing my homework I realized that in order to set up a Gmbh, the company has to have a Swiss citizen as one of its directors.

Can you please verify if this is the case?

Also, if this is the case, can you please suggest some approaches that some others may have taken to manage this sort of issue? For example, is there a service that can provide a 'token' director that really has no say in company operations?

You might want to consider setting this up in Zug for tax reasons.

I would recommend contacting a Local Lawyer to help you with this. A company that I use is: www.Mueller-praxis.ch Gaby Müller speaks good English.

Depending on the type of company you setup, you might need to lock 150chf into an account while the company is being setup (takes several weeks).
